Sweet with refreshing acidity; fully ripe berries have more flavour than those that have only just changed colour.
This description applies to the species; a separate taste test of this cultivar has not been confirmed.
Compare a classic blue harvest with pink Pink Lemonade. A compact potted plant makes acid-loving fruit possible in a garden with lime-rich soil.
Sweet with refreshing acidity; fully ripe berries have more flavour than those that have only just changed colour.
Acidic soil or potting compost for acid-loving plants; retain moisture without stagnation. Rainwater is practical where tap water is hard.
Many cultivars are partially self-fertile. Different compatible cultivars can increase the harvest.
Potted acid-loving group: Use large pots with drainage. Fill with ericaceous compost. Choose compatible different cultivars. Water with rainwater and taste ripe fruit.
Acid soil bed: Measure pH before planting. Plant in suitable acidic ground. Mulch and maintain even moisture. Place bird-friendly protection over the fruit.
Save acid soil or pot growing and flowering compatibility; Pink Lemonade ripens pink, so there is no universal black or blue ripeness rule.
Start with the root environment. Blueberries and cranberries need acidic soil; an attractive fruit colour does not solve unsuitable ground. If your garden soil does not suit them, a separate bed or pot with suitable acidic potting compost may be more manageable. Check the watering supply and do not add lime by following a general vegetable-garden recipe. The plant has different soil requirements from many vegetables.
A container makes choosing the soil mixture easier but needs extra attention to watering. Feel below the surface to check whether the root zone is still suitably moist. Do not let a pot dry out for long and check drainage. Growing cranberries is no reason to keep an arbitrary pot permanently submerged; the chosen position must suit the species and growing method.
A blueberry may already have changed colour before its flavour is at its best. Pick in stages and compare a few plump fruits that come away easily. Cranberries, by contrast, remain notably acidic and are often processed. Assess that harvest after preparation too. A pale or pink fruit belongs to its own selection: use the cultivar's final colour rather than the appearance of a standard blueberry.
